Finishing Up

This week really did seem to just melt away.

Typically, when you're really looking forward to something, it seems to take forever to arrive. I remember as kid, the month of December always seemed to take as along as the entire 11 preceding months as Christmas approached.

However, working at the newspaper, the days seem to fly by quicker than you can blink.

Thankfully, I was able to get most of the work I needed to do completed in a decent amount of time today.

It’s always tough leaving the newspaper for a week. As editor, it’s my responsibility to ensure that the paper is filled, edited and gets out on time. I know I’m entitled to some time off, but as the end of the week approaches, I’m accustomed to making sure that the paper is ready to go.

Trying not to think about it while being away is like trying to ignore a hunger pain in your stomach. It’s there, and it won’t go away unless you do something about it.

In this case, that thing I’m going to do about it is go on vacation, but I imagine come Tuesday, when it’s production day, my mind will constantly drift to how things are going with the newspaper.

However, last time, while in Jamaica, I spent Tuesday’s production day drifting in the ocean with a cold beer.

Perhaps in Florida I’ll find something similar to distract myself with.

Anyway, that’s all for now.

Finally, just a quick note, please bare with me over the coming days. It’s going to be a busy couple days of travel and while I’ll do my best to post, there may be a couple days of radio silence before I return.

As always, thanks for reading,
