A Quick Love Note for Two Years
Joel’s Journal - February 3, 2018 - Volume 3 - Entry #34
We spent the Saturday exactly how an anniversary should be spent, just simply being together.
Celebrating two years together, or any anniversary for that matter, shouldn’t be about the gifts or the big dinner or any of the “things”, it should be about taking the time to put everything else aside and just spend some quality time with one another.
That’s what we did on Saturday.
It was a perfect morning, spent drinking coffee and reading the newspaper in bed.
There was a cozy afternoon spent intermittently napping and watching Netflix on the couch.
Then there was putting on a nice shirt and going for a delicious dinner.
We had a drink, ate some amazing Italian food, and simply spent a nice time at a quiet table smiling at one another, talking about the years ahead and making plans.
It wasn’t the true date of our anniversary, as unfortunately, that date falls the day after I leave for Florida.
But as I said, the day isn’t the important part, just like the gifts and dinner isn’t the important part.
It’s about acknowledging how far you two have come together and how you’ve changed each other’s lives for the better.
It’s about celebrating the fact that two lives have come together and created something truly special.
Happy anniversary, M.
To all of you, thanks for reading.
