Joel’s Journal – November 6, 2016

Hello everyone and thank you for coming to check out my blog.

It’s the end of the weekend, and by the time you read this it will be Monday morning.

Hopefully you can push the bad feelings away and enjoy the start of the week. I really used to hate Mondays, but now I see it as a fresh start, a fresh week full of hours to use up.

Mondays are even better when I know I’ve wrung every good minute out of the weekend that I could.

As my previous blogs have said, my brother Daniel was down visiting for most of it, when he left Saturday afternoon, I did some editing and other writing before M came over.

I pushed out of bed early Sunday morning, clicking off the 6 a.m. alarm after a couple of well-deserved snooze hits. I clicked on the coffee (I haven’t totally figured out the timer on the new machine yet), then set to getting prepped for a couple hours of writing.

I put down a solid 1,000 words on the new storyline, and I’d say I’m about a quarter of the way to catching it up with the rest of the novel.

My goal is to have the book completed by the end of 2016. I know that doesn’t leave me with a lot of time, but I think starting off 2017 with a completed manuscript would be amazing. And the way 2016 has gone for me, I think it would be just the cherry on top if I were to finish this book too.

2017 is going to be a big year, I can feel it now, and I know people always say that come the new year, but I said the same thing last year, and you know what? 2016 was a beauty.

I can honestly say this has probably been the happiest year of my life. Work is finally going my way, I’m getting a stronger grasp of writing, I can feel and see my photography skills improving, and I’m just generally happy. It’s a beautiful thing.

Well, that definitely improved my mood. People, take a look at where you are and remember you’ve been through a lot to get there. It’s worth being thankful for that.

Now, Monday, bring it on.

Thanks for reading,

J.J.W.
