Busy Days with Nothing to Write About

Entry #23

The days when I’m the busiest, I always seem to have the hardest time finding something to write about.

It’s kind of ironic actually, when nothing much happens, I’m always flush with ideas, but when I have a day where I’m going non-stop, I can’t seem to focus on one thing to create a coherent post.

Today was a crazy one, as I’m sure you can surmise from my opening lines. Writing and blogging in the morning, as usual, emails and writing in the office, interview, quick lunch, off to a meeting, covering an event at the university, back to the office for another interview, make the calls I didn’t have time for earlier in the day, respond to all the emails that came in while I was out of the office. You get the picture.

After work I met M at my apartment so that we could hit the mall for a quick dinner and pick up a few things for this weekend. The two of us are headed to my parents place in Kitchener for some good old-fashioned family fun.

We’re actually going axe throwing at BATL, which should be beyond awesome. We got a voucher from my brother’s event he was hosting this past summer (Outfest, check it out!) and now we have 10 free spots to huck some sharp objects around. I’m seriously looking forward to it.

The last time I was there was for my buddy Mike’s bachelor party, and since I was the host, I was pretty busy making sure the groom-to-be was having a good time. I barely got any photos, so this time I’m hoping to get some good ones.

Anyway, the writing on the novel continues to flow along nicely. With each day I work on it I can feel that pressure building up. I know I’m getting close to finishing it, and I can’t wait to hold that finished manuscript in my hand. I’m starting to get anxious now. I know it’s only draft one, and by the end of the editing process I’m going to wish I had never even thought of his novel idea, but for now, I can bathe in the romanticized notion that this book will be amazing right from the start.

As I’ve said, I’m hoping to have that done by the end of the year. In the meantime, I’ve got about a month and a half to sort things out. December is going to be a great month, but for tonight, that is all.

Thanks for reading,
