-4 Minute Read-
Joel’s Journal - Entry #97 - 2/5/2017
I’m absolutely drained.
This past weekend has been so jam packed, from celebrating with M on Friday to editing and adventuring on Saturday, to working, shooting the Gens and getting a few precious, late night minutes with M. I couldn’t ask for a better weekend.
I woke up late this morning, well, late for me I guess, it was 9:30 a.m. and after putting the coffee on, I almost immediately set to work. I had yesterday’s work to post on the site (I’m actually quite happy with how the vlog turned out) and I was looking to get a bit more accomplished throughout the morning before heading off to the Gens game.
The editing on my manuscript for What We’ve Become has not been going nearly as fast as I hoped it would, but I guess it’s a combination of trying to find the time and also not being able to rush the complicated and tedious process. I’m taking it small steps at a time though and eventually it’ll get there.
In the meantime, I’ve thought recently about when I’m going to start my next novel. I’ve got a few ideas kicking around in my head, but nothing has really reared up and slapped my face with inspiration just yet.
That’s probably for the best, to be honest with you, I’ve got What We’ve Become on the go in the early editing stages, and I’ve got Tegan in the further along editing stages, but probably no closer to getting published (or self-published) than it was this time a year ago. I’ve also got my Summer of Short stories project to prepare for the coming months.
You see, I’ve found that I’m pretty content to write the book, print it off, look at it, nod my head and move onto the next thing.
I think that’s a byproduct of just writing them for me. When I started both of these books I never sat down at the computer thinking about how amazing it will be when the book is published and sitting on the shelf of Chapters. All I thought about was the story and the characters and moving them forward in their imaginary world I have created. With that being said, now that it’s finished, I wouldn’t have any issue with it become an actually printed and bound book, let’s be real.
Enough about though. After the Gens game ended I set to work editing the vlog from today and around 9 p.m., M text me as she got off work early. I packed up my laptop, a smile on my face and headed out the door.
I needed to finish my editing, but I would much rather do it with her beside me than in my empty apartment.
So, I edited and we watched SNL (recorded) and the Puppy Bowl. If you don’t know what this is (don’t feel bad, I just recently found out), you should really check it out. It’s in the 13th year running, and it’s a thing of beauty.
With that, my vlog is almost done exporting and I need to get some sleep. Today, make sure you do what you love and do it well!
Thanks for reading,
